The Cup Continues And England Extend The Lead.

Good Evening.

More Gigantica carp have been caught in the last 24 hours. England have caught three more, all falling to Ian MacMillan’s rods, and Ben-Lux’s Arjen had another carp this afternoon from the Tree Line swim. This now means team England are well over the 200lb mark and the team from Ben-Lux are in second place with nearly 80lb in weight. Germany really need to pull something out of the bag and must start catching very soon if they are to threaten Ben-Lux for second place. England are not home and dry yet, as there are still two and a half days left; anything could happen in that time. There is still a competition to be won by any one of the teams.

Age: 24.

Hometown: Germany.

PB: 24kg

Funniest moment in fishing: I joined a new water. Everyone who had been fishing the lake was using boilies and a fish had not been caught all year. I spodded out some particle and used plastic maize and caught a 19kg carp on my first night.

Why carp fishing? Its been my life since I was ten years old.

Funniest moment in fishing: Went on a fishing trip and got his Landcruiser vehicle stuck in the mud. Had to be towed out by a tractor. The vehicle then slid backwards into a ditch!

Why carp? Because of the size of them!

Rig for the competition: Size 8 hook, PB products Skinless hooklink. Line aligner Rig. For pop ups D-rig.

Representing England.

Danny Fairbrass

Danny Fairbrass

Name: Danny Fairbrass.

Age: 38.

Hometown: Blackheath, Sth London.

PB: 44lb 8oz common from Wellington, 62lb 10oz from Lac Maison

Occupation: MD Korda.

Funniest moment in fishing:  When Dan was 14 he went fishing with his friend Wesley Setchfield who fell in after only ten minutes. His hook got caught in some sedges and as he pulled it free, he actually threw himself into the water, rather than just falling in. He had to go home on the bus completely wet!

Why Carp? Caught a 4lb common whilst float fishing which nearly pulled the rod in!

Rig for the competition: Slow sinking snowman fished KD style with wide gape barbless hooks or curved barbless.

As promised last night here are some pictures of big Gigantica carp that will certainly put a bend in your rod. There are many big carp in Gigantica but the post would be far too long to publish them all, so here are three to drool over!

And finally! I managed to get my daily carp fix today with another floater caught carp. I searched for the target carp, but it is being very elusive. In the end I found a hungry group of fish happily taking free offerings off the surface. The fish I caught yesterday evening was also with them, greedily gulping the surface for biscuits!! I was actually stood on a tree trunk a metre above them all and it was amazing to watch them. I had to remain so still and I dared not breath! A couple of times I had to lift the biscuit off the surface to prevent a really small one taking my hookbait, but in the end I picked a slightly larger fish which took the bait straight away. The fight was done on a short line to prevent him getting into some bushes and I held on for dear life! The fish tired very quickly and I got him straight into the net. Another stalking result. These fish may not be big carp, but at the moment it is giving me enough excitement on a daily basis, to satisfy my carpy needs!!

Caught under my feet!
