A Comfortable Win For England At Gigantica.

Good Morning.

It is a sunny Sunday morning at Gigantica and I can now give you the final results of the European Cup that has taken place at the superb venue over the last week. The event really was a success and I think it is safe to say that everyone had a truly teriffic week.

What all the teams were fishing for.

The competition actually ended at 10am yesterday. The concluding night had brought a few precious carp; two for Bart from Ben-Lux and two for Tom Dove from England. Captain Danny Fairbrass also managed to nail one before the final whistle blew. Top man!

Poor Germany had little to celebrate. After celebrating his 24th birthday on the Friday, Carsten lost a fish in the morning to a snag and the fish that could have finally got them off the mark, vanished into thin air. Better luck next year my German friends!

The cup remained out of Germany's reach all week.

Everyone made their way back for the award ceremony. The atmosphere has been incredibly sporting all week and it has been a contest to be proud of; Etienne netting Fairbrass’s first carp at the start of the competition and then taking pictures of Danny’s final fish this morning, shows a very high level of sportsmanship which should be commended.

That just remains me to say thank you to all the teams for taking part and making the event a joy to cover on my blog. New friendships were formed and some useful contacts were forged and as usual my dogs were spoilt rotten. It also appears that Ali Hamidi is now my dogs food sponsor. They have never had so many sly handfuls of treats and bowls of left over food in their canine lives, and I know they are looking forward to his return in the future! Cheers Ali.

Better luck next year Germany!

Jens, Carsten and Etienne. Better luck next year Guys!

Mario, Arjen and Bart. Worthy of second place!

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!

It is now time for me to fish Gigantica. I am set up in a swim called The Alamo with my good friend Ian Abbott. I used to fish with Ian between 1989 and 1992, so after all these years it is good to catch up with an old fishing partner for the coming week. It was late by the time we got sorted out in our swim, so we fished with stringers for the first night. It is now time to get the bait and rods sorted properly and try to start establishing some big fish feeding spots.

Catch you lot later.
