See You At Madine Soon!

IMG_0113 (220 x 163)

Good Morning.

I shortly will be making the journey back to the UK for my week there. My time at Gigantica has temporarily come to an end and it has been a fantastic time. I caught one more lovely carp from the Tree Line swim which I managed to capture on video. The take was so explosive that it pulled one of my other rods from its rest! The fish was a hard fighting, heavily scaled mirror, weighing about 24lbs!

Shortly after this short battle was won, I had another take. This fish was on another level and flat rodded me in an instant. Everything happened so quickly, from the line skating across the surface, the rod wrenching violently towards the hooked carp, and me struggling to hold the rod to one side. The hook pulled and another possible monster had escaped! After this loss I was left shaking! I have decided that a softer rod is needed to fight these beasts, allowing me to apply more pressure without fear of the hook pulling. I am not finished in the Tree Line swim. I will be back! I have ended up with a tally of 15 lovely Gigantica carp, including two 40lb+ specimens, but I still want a 25kg+ monster!

The blog is now going on vacation! Whilst I am in the UK for six days I will be writing lots more material for the blog and this will be added in due course. Information about my sponsors, and other pages of interest to add to the blog’s content. The new blog will be launched from Lac de Madine at the start of August where I will fish for over 20 days prior to the WCC. I am really looking forward to fishing at Madine, and then afterwards I will be working at the WCC during the competition. I have been given a great role, in charge of the main island, and if last year is anything to go by, this year should be amazing!

In the mean time I have already made a few small changes to the blog for your benefit. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours putting all the past blogs into chapters of all the lakes and rivers I have fished at. These can now be re read from start to finish. If you click on Jake’s Sessions it gives you a drop down menu. Click on a particular water and it will bring up an archive of posts. Some are just a brief update of the session. These were written before the actual blog started. Others are full daily accounts of my sessions from start to finish. You will need to go back to the start of the session using the Previous Entries button, scroll back to the beginning of each session and then sit down with a coffee at work or beer at home (!!) and follow the highs and lows of my sessions; read all about the carp I catch, the characters I meet, the tactics I use, and gaze at some of the pictures.

To help you get started I have included some links to some great stories. These may begin at a particular point in the session.

Finally I would like to thank you all for your support over the last six months. The blog is written each day with you, the reader, in mind. If it makes you smile, chuckle or gasp in horror, if you can’t wait to read the next post, then the blog is working as it was fully intended.

Take care and see you at Madine at the beginning of August!
