Good Evening.
The rain that began yesterday evening has tumbled down all day. The rain is a good thing though and as I have a river that enters the lake situated to my right, I am sure it will encourage some carp to arrive into the area looking for food that will arrive in the river’s flow. The more it rains the more water will arrive and ever so slowly the water will turn that lovely chocolate-brown colour.
The rain does mean there is no bonfire tonight! I covered my firewood last night as the rain started but it is simply not the weather to be sat by a fire. I would be warm but I would also get very wet. I did some fishing work today despite the rain and went and placed two rods. I had a single beep at about 5am this morning so I reeled in that rod this afternoon and checked it. I dropped it back into position afterwards and attached a stringer with three 26mm boilies that are all cut in half.
I decided that after trying one rod in the margin in front of me for a couple of days that I would change its location so I rowed out in the rain to look for a good spot. As I already have one rod at the front of the large plateau, I decided to put this rod at the back of this plateau. The depth is deeper at the back of the plateau and the lake then extends out from this position. As the plateau is fairly big and almost triangular in shape it is possible to fish two rods comfortably in this zone without the lines interfering with each other.I tied up a new rig for this rod and have opted for a 26mm bottom bait. My boilies do seem to be hardening slowly which is good news and my confidence in them is growing. A carp will increase that confidence tenfold and I don’t think I am doing anything wrong with regards to the fishing. I am just getting started in my new spot and I am sure once carp start finding the bait the rewards will follow.
Funnily enough I have just been interupted by a few beeps on my longest range rod. The culprit was a silver fish but it is a sign that there are fish feeding on that spot. Bream at Cassien never put me off as carp often followed. I have been out in the boat and redropped the rig with a new bait. As I write this I have just had another enquiry on another rod. I now have to go and redrop that one. It is all looking good to be honest.
Back tomorrow.
Jake and the dogs.
