Yes I must admit when I am shopping I do seem to notice most of the Italian girls have very slim waists and tight bottoms...must be something to do with the diet!! With regards to the 13ft rods, the set I just sold were actually 13ft and I got on with them very well. For playing carp in the boat I find the extra length an advantage and you can really let the rod do all of the work. They were a very soft 2.75lb tc model and I would rarely give line to any fish, instead I would let the rod tip be pulled right down into the water...what a fantastic feeling that is. I played a 20kg cat in the West Arm last year for 20 minutes and getting it off the bottom was the hardest part..it was like lifting a slowly moving bag of cement. The tc was not a problem and I could confidently give the fish some real stick without fear of the hook popping out or the line breaking. I also found the 2.75 tc great for close range snag fishing at Gigantica and I could stop a fish in its tracks, quite literally. I am sure the soft action and extra length helped in absorbing some of the power of the initial surge from the carp.

If you are planning on buying a set just for big water/boat use, I would give the extra foot a whirl mate. I know when Sonik release their 13ft models in the future I will be keen to have a set to use for the big water experience.

Cheers for now.

Good Evening Jake and Dogs

I have to agree with you on Italian food, it is top notch. As I've told you before my wife is Italian and her cooking is second to none - all healthy stuff too.
Im hoping to broaden my angling horizon and head to some of the big waters in France and Italy soon. Quick question, what are your thoughts on 13ft rods? Im pretty sure I've got everything else covered and have been using 12ft for long enough and wondered if 13 would be an advantage?
Cheers, all the best
