Mission Accomplished!

Good Evening.

It is late and I am shattered! After days of planning and an early start this morning I finally arrived at the lake. After two big boat trips to the swim, I am now all set up and the dogs are asleep! My Internet connection is working but it seems a little hit and miss. I may have to walk around tomorrow to find the best area in the swim. I am actually set up in some woods and it’s very Blair Witch – I like it!. The edge of the lake is about forty yards away which will mean a sharp dash to the rods when a run occurs. The ground is quite boggy near the water’s edge, but there are strong pallets on the floor from a previous angler’s installation, which makes life slightly more comfortable on the feet!

The planning and organisation that has gone into this trip has been mind-blowing really. I have more food and water with me than normal because I am a fair distance from my van. It means supermarket runs are limited and if truth be told, I am more than happy with that. I am very focussed on what lies ahead and I have a small armoury of equipment packed away in my bivvies. I was rather fortunate today and a good friend Emannuele came to the lake with me and helped with the mammoth operation. He was also on hand to take some video footage for Korda’s website. As we prepared the first boat load, a smartly attired waiter appeared from a nearby restaurant and enquired as to whether or not we were from the military. It must be my new look as I am now wearing BlackHawk clothing from head to toe – it looks the dogs boll*cks!!

The fishing will begin tomorrow. I am now about to get a good night’s sleep and I will be up early tomorrow to start sorting out the rods and tackle etc… I hope you all join me over the next five or six weeks and I hope the session lives up to my expectations; I am feeling positive and in tune.

Finally, I would just like to personally thank Joby at Dynamite Baits for designing the new header for the blog. I hope it meets your approval too!

Cheers for now.

Jake and the dogs.

Thanks for the message Nick. Fishing the Orient was a memorable experience. I don’t have any plans to return though, as there are too many other waters and I don’t have the time to get obsessed with one place for the rest of my life! I am currently fishing in Italy at a 1800 acre lake not far from lake Como.

Hope you enjoy the blog and the website and good luck if you go to the Orient.

      Jake
