Good Evening.
The weather today has been threatening rain but it has held off. I have spent the day doing checks and adjustments to the rods. I always like to check after 24 hours into a long session, just to see if there are any nuisance species etc… I got a pleasant surprise on two of my rods as I had bloodworm on the hook and bait. The hump I found yesterday is sprouting new shoots of Canadian pond weed as this was also on the hook of one of the rods. I was sure there was some plant life on this hump yesterday and now my suspicions have been confirmed. Taking this into consideration I think it could be a very good spot as things start to warm up.
After making a few small changes, I am now happy with everything. The rods are now going to stay put for a few days and I think it will be a case of waiting for the fish to arrive. I didn’t put too much bait out yesterday as I was running out of time because the day shot by. Today I took a bucket of boilies out to each area, and using the motor on my boat I quickly delivered a boilie every square metre or so, covering a very wide area around each spot. I did this by driving the boat slowly back and forth in lines using my marker as a central guide. I have done this baiting strategy to try to grab the carp’s attention if they move through in a shoal. The wide spread of bait in three separate areas should keep them busy for a while till one of them finds my hookbait. That’s the plan!
As promised I have taken many pictures today and I will leave you with a few to look at so you can all get a feel for the place. I have a few woodpeckers for company in the wood and every now and then I can hear this loud tap tap tap – it’s fantastic and I will try to get a picture if I can.
