>My Pictures

I take my fishing seriously, and photography is another area where I spend a great deal of care and time to ensure I get the best shot possible. I use an industry standard camera with a very good lens. I own a tripod and have a remote control set up, which pretty much guarantees I can take good self takes of fish if necessary. How many times have you seen awful trophy shots taken with a mobile phone camera or with no flash at night? When you have spent weeks or maybe years to catch the fish of your dreams, capturing that moment on camera is sometimes as special as catching the fish itself. Once the fish is returned you will always have the memory in your head, but it is also fantastic to look at a great cover shot in years to come. Just like fishing I am always looking for ways to improve my photography. I take lots of shots every day and these could be anything from a sunrise, a moody sky, a funny incident, or something that captures your imagination. When you take a picture you are essentially making a piece of creative artwork. There certainly is a skill involved to take a great picture and some people seem to do it more naturally than others!

Fortunately, with digital photography these days, we can see our results instantly and bad pictures can be deleted. I started off my photography in fishing in 1989 with an SLR Olympus OM10 and I had to wait days to get my pictures developed afterwards. Although I enjoyed the anticipation of opening up the envelope containing my pictures; gladly we have moved on from those days! Practice makes good pictures. Practice a lot and you will be taking perfect pictures!!
