This is a new gallery of all my carp that weighed between 40lb and 49lb 15oz!! This is an updated version of the previous gallery and I have now added some previously unseen pictures to keep things fresh! I have caught all of these carp since March 2008 from a variety of waters all over Europe. As you will see, they are in no particular order. Some of these pictures were self taken, but most of them were taken by friends or fellow anglers, and it just remains for me to say thank you; you did a great job with the camera!!

They are stunners aren’t they Tim….Commons seemed to have liked me so far!! I am hoping for a ‘big’ river one, but am hoping it will be placed in the 50′s gallery!! ;-)

Hi jake.Hows the fishing?weather here is terrible but on the upside ive booked my first trip abroad to blues lake in belgium for next may. hoping for a pb.take care tim.

Slow as expected but I am off the mark so that’s one less thing to worry about!! I am going to keep playing the margins with one rod and leave the two in deeper water alone, till fingers crossed a carp makes a mistake!
Good luck next May…I am sure I will hear from you before then, and I will have finished my Italian tour by then, so hopefully I will have kept you entertained along the way!

      Jake

Wow! Those are some big carp. I’m stuck here in France at the moment, and they seem to be all that are here (I haven’t caught any THAT big yet). I can’t quite get into carp fishing. I’m more of a catfish man.

Do you eat them, or just catch and release? I think I would like them better if I could find some good recipes.

    • thebigcarphunter Says:

All my carp get weighed, photographed and released….It is the preferred practice in most countries these days which is great news. No Kill!!
Although carp were bred for the table originally, those days are gone and carp fishing andf catch and release is now the biggest area of our sport today. Saying that though, there are now a few carp farms sprouting up that rear small carp especially for the table as there does seem to be a growing demand to eat them in some countries, but as long as these table carp come from these special farms and not someones fishing lake then that is okay. The UK has suffered from many carp being caught and killed in the last few years by ignorant people who don’t realise we catch and release. It has been very damaging for some of these waters as the carp are very expensive and hard to replace.
