>>50lb+
When I weigh a carp and the needle swings round to 22.8kg, it puts a massive smile on my face because I know I have just caught a fifty. This is my favourite gallery by far! These are the pictures of all my carp that have weighed 50lb and over. They are in no particular order and just like the 40lb+ section, I have posted some previously unseen photographs for your enjoyment. I have caught these fish since February 2008 and I am really hoping there will be more coming soon. My last big carp was caught in October 2009 from the Orient of all places and weighed in at just over 25kg…my first ever carp from the mighty venue! Some of my big carp are repeat captures as you will notice, but you can’t choose which fish picks up your hookbait, and you still have to catch them! I don’t mind repeat captures anyway, as they all bring me plenty of enjoyment and it’s always good to see the fish in good health. Here are my 50lb+ carp!

That is a great question Adam. I have given it some thought during the night and decided to award it to the fish that gave me the best and certainly most memorable battle. This was the 53lb mirror I caught from Liez. I had the run at 4am eight nights into a very slow session. The fish was hooked at 300m range and the fight proceeded for fifteen minutes in the boat in very windy conditions with the fish boring around underneath the boat. Ever so slowly I gained line as the boat was pushed down towards the dam wall by the winds. I finally got the carp into the net on the second attempt and boy was I relieved!! I then had to make my way back to my swim which took an eternity as I was about 700 yards away to weigh my Liez lump! Sometimes the big ones don’t fight…this one did and it was a stunning looking carp too.
Cheers Mate.

Stanny is its name, or Gary’s fish, or a hundred other names I expect!! Great fight for twenty minutes from the bank…caught four days after my birthday. Great memories!
