MY SPONSORS

Since I left the UK in 2008 I have managed to secure one or two sponsorship deals! I have specifically tried to tailor my needs to particular companies, who in my opinion are at the top of their game. No ‘one’ person produces everything, and for myself carp fishing is a collaboration of several companies who specialise in certain areas of the sport. I now have a dedicated and very strong team behind me. Each of my sponsors provide me with a specific range of tackle or equipment to help me get the best out of my fishing. I need kit I can trust and depend on 100% so it does not let me down when I need it the most.

I have given each of my sponsors a complete and dedicated page, explaining how they benefit me. There are links to their websites so you can look at the products they manufacture and sell.

Destructive weather in Italy!

Destructive weather in Italy!

I fish all year round in drastically changing climates. Last year in Italy I endured blistering temperatures and then suddenly a tornado struck the lake whilst fishing at Lago di Pusiano, and after spending a long and dark winter, bivvied up on the bank at Cassien in France, in minus 15 temperatures, I am still here to tell the story. I suppose you could say I am an ideal field tester. I can put any item of tackle through its paces every day of the year, and in all conditions to really see if it is as good as the manufacturer claims it to be.

I come from a technology background and used to be a technology teacher. I have good product development and evaluation skills and I can now apply this to the sport of carp fishing. Much of the tackle I use is the best available but I am often given prototypes of new products to test. If I notice weak spots or can see obvious ways that products can be improved, then this is the vital information I will pass onto my sponsors. I can help them develop and improve the final finished product, which in turn means the customer knows they are buying a quality item that has been thoroughly tried and tested.

Through this blog, my profile, and my writing I am able to promote products. If there are any companies out there who have products you would like me to look at, I am more than happy to help. Just get in touch!

Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to all of my current sponsors for your continued support – it is greatly appreciated!

maybe can u help me with this mesage… I looking for one personal sponsor.. I u can give me some idea’s…thanks.

    Dear sir,
My name is Dan Dochia and I will represent Romania to “ 2009 World Carp Championship” . The competitions will take place in France, on “ Lac de l’Uby “ between 19 and 25 October 2009 . (www.gncarpe.com). Romanian national delegations is composed of 3 teams (by 2 persons) and one team for reserve. I will be in first 3 teams.
I looking for personal sponsorship for this competition. I don’t want money – for me sponsorship means just out door / fishing equipments (clothers, shoes, carp fishing equipments, bivvy, etc) .
If your company is interested for this, please contact me.
    Best regards,
    Dan Dochia

My advice as always is this… Firstly – why do you want to get sponsored? Is being sponsored going to make you a better angler or do you just want free products? Do you write, do you catch carp consistently? Are you in the magazines often? If the answer to those three questions is yes, then I am sure a company will notice you eventually and approach you. Personally – I would just enjoy your fishing Jack. That is far more important. I had lots of sponsors because I was fishing non-stop and travelling around Europe for three years. But being sponsored isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and personally I enjoy my fishing more, now I don’t have involvement with several of them.

      All the best.

      Jake

I think the only way to ‘get noticed’ these days, with the thousands of carp anglers who participate, in the UK alone, is you have to be something pretty special, taking waters apart season after season, catching the big fish, and backing it all up with good photography, and some captivating words if you can write. To be really blunt, it is a very hard place to get to, as there are so many anglers who want recognition these days, some deserving, some not!
I suppose in a nutshell, if you deserve it, you will get it in the long run; but as always I will say, just enjoy your fishing as that is far more important, and what will be, will be, my friend! Some people work in the industry, magazines, shops, for manufacturers, and that can be a good compromise for some, as it is always a good platform into other opportunities. All the best.

Hi Jake just enjoyed reading about your fishing on the sierra brava , brilliant reading as usual as with all your adventures I feel like I am there on the bank too !!! Your enthusiasm and dedication is fantastic and thanks for the tips on using a marker float this is a tactic which is relatively new to me and one simple mistake I have discovered since reading your advice is to wind down to the lead before clipping up so which I think would cause my lines to run through my baited areas instead of in front so thanks for giving me something to work on !! Thanks again Leigh Herbert
