MY DOGS

This page is just for fun but it only seems fair that my two lovely dogs get their own page on the blog! Charley and Flash have been with me every step of the way. My globetrotting Dobermans keep me company and provide me with the right amount of security!

“Sadly Charley passed away on Boxing day 2010. Rest in peace my little girl x

My two loyal fishing companions!

The Dobermann Pinscher (alternatively spelled Doberman in many countries) or Dobermann is a breed of domestic dog. Dobermann Pinschers are among the most common of pet breeds, and the breed is well known as an intelligent, alert, and loyal companion dog. Although once commonly used as guard dogs, watch dogs, or police dogs, this is less common today. In many countries, Dobermann Pinschers are one of the most recognizable breeds, in part because of their actual roles in society, and in part because of media attention. Careful breeding has improved the disposition of this breed, and the modern Dobermann Pinscher is an energetic and lively breed suitable for companionship and family life.

      Hi Ray.

The dogs and I are a team! I couldn’t do my long trip without them and after having them both from pups, we have become a tight unit. Being together in all these wonderful but sometimes harsh environments, only reinforces that, and I really do think Flash and Charley love their new life. It beats being stuck indoors, they have all the fresh air and water they need, occasional treats from other anglers(!) and I make sure they are warm in the colder months with my gas heater. They make a great deterrent from would be ‘intruders/freaks’ and it means we all sleep peacefully at night when fishing solo. I thoroughly recommend a Doberman or two to anyone for a fishing friend!!! They don’t get jealous when you catch a big fish, they don’t grumble when you want to move lakes, and they are always grateful when you prepare them food.
      All the best.

      Jake and the dogs!

    Morning Jake,
I think dogs better companions than people Christina Agueleria apart. I have four blokes. Two big boy Bloodhounds and two spaniels all of which take it in turns to go fishing. I never look back at the window now to see three disappointed faces as I can not manage to take more than one at a time. Fishing is dictated by where they can go, ususally big low stock waters. Still waiting for my first fish of the year.
    Regards to the boys!

    Super dog’s and R.I.P Charlie.

She saw more big fish than I am likely too!

    Top blogg.

Thanks Simon. You are quite right and she was possibly my lucky charm! My big fish bubble seemed to burst after my Orient session in 2009 (seems such a long time ago!). However, these days, enjoying my fishing is more important, then hankering after big fish; I know they will crop up from time to time, and as you say, there were a lot in the beginning, and they are something I can always look back on with fond memories!

      Thanks for your comment.
